Barton Hill Farms

We got in the fall spirit this past weekend (despite the 90 degree heat... c'mon cooler weather!!!) and went to a festival at Barton Hill Farms.  The girls were delighted that Mady, Morgan and Grandma and Grandpa would be joining in on the fun!

This place was amazing.  Huge space and tons of things to do.  I loved that even though there were a bunch of people, it didn't feel crowded or uncomfortable.  They had tons of picnic tables in shade, great kid friendly activities, live music, and yummy food.

The kids made an instant beeline for this bouncing "pillow" and waited in line twice for 4 minutes of jumping time.

They had all sorts of clever "agritainment" events for the kids to do - interesting playscapes, big wheels to roll, a castle, a sandbox inside a pirate ship and a train made of barrel cows!

The farm had three "corn" (we are pretty sure they were bamboo plants...) mazes - a storybook 5-10 minute maze, a 15 min intermediate maze and a 30 minute expert maze.  We opted for the quick storybook version and I'm glad we did!  No breeze inside really tall plants!  HOT.

We ended the day at the pumpkin patch and the kids each got to pick their own pumpkin.  We did (of course) bribe them with cotton candy to get some fun family pictures first.

Lia chose the largest pumpkin she could carry...  and dropped it about 17 times.  I really thought we would have pumpkin guts by now, but that thing is still intact (thank goodness!)

Erin went another direction and found a cute little pumpkin - she was quite proud.  Halle also chose a little pumpkin, but by this point in the day, she was not in a smiling mood....  and promptly fell asleep within 5 minutes in the car.
