Christmas Tree Farm

Since we are in a tiny apartment for Christmas this year. we took the opportunity to take the kids to cut down our own Christmas tree.  Usually we aim for the biggest tree possible and the tree farm doesn't have that many great big trees (you know, because it is Texas...  I'm surprised anything grows here....).  Short on space meant that we could go cut our own down this year.  The kids were excited to find the perfect tree as well as all the other fun things in store.

On the "hayride"(there was no hay) out to the field to get a tree!

We walked all over and looked a several different trees.  Most were too bulky to fit in the tiny space we had set aside in the apartment.  We needed tall and skinny.  Finally, Erin and I spotted a great one - we had a winner!  And, to make it even better, it is hypoallergenic!  It doesn't drop needles and most people aren't allergic to it.  Given our issues last year with Lia, this was welcome news.  :)

Halle was walking around with Mimi and Bob-o and spotted this little tiny tree.  She said "get that tree, Bob-o, it is perfect and I love it."  I think if it were just Bob-o and Halle, he would have come back with this little beauty - such a sweet uncle.  But alas, we told Halle this little baby tree needed more time to grow up before it could be a Christmas tree.  She accepted this reasoning, but still wanted her picture taken with it.  So stinking cute.

The farm is a little run down, but they have fun things set out for the kids.  All they need is a great sponsor and this place would be incredible.

Roasting marshmallows and having s'mores with hot chocolate!  I think this was the first time the girls got to try s'mores.  They all approved.

We headed back in the late afternoon and set the tree up that evening.  It fits perfectly and is a sweet little tree to have this year.
