Cabo San Lucas

Todd and I were lucky enough to have GG & Pop Pop watch the kiddos so we could jet off on an amazing vacation to Cabo San Lucas!  This August is our 10th anniversary and we were so excited to celebrate in style at this awesome all inclusive resort.  The goal was the relax and reconnect.  Check and check!

The resort offers special things for people celebrating an occasion and for our anniversary we were offered an upgrade to a suite.  Uh, YES!  Here was the view from our balcony.

The resort is called Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and is on the Pacific coast in Cabo.  Unfortunately (for Todd mostly) the ocean is not safe for swimming on the Pacific side.  The currents, rip tides and undertow are extremely strong.  Apparently there was a woman who went in up to her knees and the current pulled her feet out from under her.  A hotel butler had to pull her out and said she nearly drown... insane.  Needless to say, they had a "ocean monitor" out there basically 24/7 to keep people away from the water.  It was a beautiful view tho!  The resort was also adults-only and super chill.  Peaceful and completely romantic.  We loved every second.

Todd surprised me by having our butler (yep, we had our own butler!) write "Happy Anniversary" in the sand with a big heart on the day we were out at the cabanas all day.  Super sweet.

We went into the town of Cabo two times.  One day we went to the only swimmable beach in Cabo for Todd to get his ocean fix.  It was BUSY and full of vendors trying to sell things.  Sort of crazy.  We did take a boat tour around and saw the famous arch and a really neat "keyhole to the pacific" where you could see through this hole in the mountain to the other side - but only for a split second b/c the waves came CRASHING through.  Our boat was thisclose to the rock and I really thought we may actually crash...  crazy.  Unfortunately, we got zero pictures on this event - mainly b/c this boat was also taking us out snorkeling, so we were all geared up and didn't want to leave our phones on the boat...

Snorkeling was uh, interesting.  You literally jump off the boat into the water and are supposed to stay in this (treacherous) roped off area to snorkel with about a million other people...  The boat then just leaves you there.  In the middle of the ocean.  You are just hoping against hope that they actually come back to get you...  Aside from that insanity - the snorkeling was actually pretty phenomenal.  We saw all sorts of really pretty fish including a Dory fish, a Gil fish and a puffer fish.

One of the highlights of the trip was something I've been wanting to do for most of my life - we swam with dolphins!!  It was just amazing.  Simply incredible.  We were able to play in the water with them, do their commands to get them to do cool tricks and got to ride with them underwater.  We were able to choose one type of ride:  above water dorsal pull, above water belly ride and underwater dorsal pull.  I had thought I would do the above water dorsal pull, but after watching lots of other people in the group have so much fun with the underwater one, I decided to do that one too.  It was totally amazing.  Both Todd and I agree that this experience was totally worth the cost.

They did a video of the entire dolphin experience if you want to see what it was all about.  We were grouped with another family who ended up being really sweet, but only spoke Spanish.  The instructors and presenters with the dolphins are super bilingual and were rattling off all these specific directions in Spanish and then would switch to English without missing a beat.  Crazy.  We mainly got the video for the kids - which they have loved it - but it is fun to see and remember the fun times.

On our last night we got dressed up cute and went to the fancy restaurant on the resort campus.  It was great to relish in each other for awhile without any distractions.  Best anniversary to date!
