Erin and Halle's group set out a few weeks ago to earn their "courageous and strong" petal by going rock climbing! This was the first time most of them had been and the first time for my girls with a harness rather than just bouldering. It was SUPER fun and you could tell they felt so proud of themselves.

The staff member leading the girls was a girl scout herself and worked her way up to the Gold Award. Pretty awesome.
Erin and one other girl were totally fearless climbers and both seemed to take to it very easily. UP UP UP they went!!

Erin on the "big wall" - she made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!
The really fun thing was seeing each girl accomplish their own goals. Emmy (below) really really wanted to get above that purple line on the wall. It took her about 4 tries, but she kept trying and then eventually got up the guts and did it!!
Just this past weekend we had the girl scout Christmas party at Build-a-bear. I was a little disappointed in how disorganized the entire thing was and the store itself was VERY busy which made it a little difficult. Of course, we also had 22 girls descend on the store at one time... but the kids didn't care at all and had a great time.

Erin chose first and was so happy with her little girl scout cat "candy cane" - that is, until she saw what her sisters were going to choose...
In the end, we ended up with three very adorable, very fitting choices. Erin's girl scout cat is my personal favorite. Lia chose the same style cat as Erin and named it "cotton candy" and dressed her in a very fancy dress, shoes and even brought her own money to buy something extra for it (a little purse). Halle got a bear that she named "Rainbow" was under the gun to choose an outfit and opted to keep her bear naked and buy a baby bear instead which she named "Rain" (when it grows up, it will be RainBOW)
Oh my, the uproar... Everyone wanted to switch out their outfits for baby bears... it was epic. (Un)Fortunately they had already taken the tags off the clothing and so we were committed.
I still hear about it - 4 days later. "Well Mom, I didn't KNOW we could get a baby bear instead! Why didn't you tell me???"
Oddly, I would have almost preferred that option - that baby bear was less expensive than the dang clothes....

The part of the group that remained after my three finally made all their decisions... haha
