Merry & Bright

It was a very merry day for the Gates family this Christmas.  This was the first year we've had just us five on Christmas morning since Erin and Halle were 18 months old.  I love a big bustling house on Christmas for sure, but this was special too - just us.

Christmas Eve started off with a bang with presents right out of the gate.  They got these cute hooded blankets from Omi and hopped on Zoom to open their Secret Santa cousin gifts.  They were delighted with what was chosen for them.

Erin got this sweet bunny from Preston and she loves it - probably one of her top gifts this year.  Teal AND a bunny???  Can't go wrong.

Amy and Stephen came over with the boys for a Christmas Eve brunch.  Delicious eggs benedict and mimosas!

Making MORE cookies for Santa!

The kids were put in full control of preparing Santa's Christmas snack.  They thought of every tiny detail and were very pleased with their end result.  They even offered Santa two choices of milk!!

For dinner we made our own pizzas!

Turns out the crust I got from the store wasn't the best and so the kids probably had 2 bites and abandoned the pizza in favor of cereal...  oh well.

They showered up, donned their new pjs and then it was GAME ON!!  We had a blast playing a charades style game with the kids.  Great new tradition instead of a movie.  LOVE.

The kids set out Santa's snack and then it was off to bed.  Christmas Eve is probably one of the easiest nights to get the kids to go to bed.  Haha!!

Todd and I got things picked up and headed to bed WAY too late.

Christmas morning I was up and ready way to early, but I was excited too!!  Got up before the sun, got some coffee and waited for the kids to wake up.

This is probably my favorite picture from this year.  Erin was super brave and let Santa choose her present with absolutely no input from her.  It was pretty awesome.  Santa left a sweet note for Erin and everyone was super eager to see what he brought for her.  She was in love with the Barbie camper he chose!!  Great selection.

Halle asked for a baby doll this year and Santa surprised her with TWIN babies!!

This brings back memories...

We took things slow and had a great time opening gifts well into the afternoon.

Todd scored on my stocking topper this year and found a little Birdie stuffed animal!

Later in the day, we joined up with my parents and Amy and Stephen for more celebrating and presents!!

Happy kids off to bed in their new nightgowns from GG!!

Hope everyone had a joyous Christmas with those you love!!
