Isla Mujeres

It was the trip from 2020 that never happened - we finally got to return to Isla Mujeres for a vacation in Mexico!

Originally, we had booked an Airbnb for this trip, but after two long years of being away, we wanted to be pampered a bit.  We opted for an all inclusive resort right on the beach.  It was pretty dang incredible.

View from our balcony

We upgraded to a rooftop terrace which gave us nearly 360 degree views of the island.  This is a panoramic that Todd took to show how much ocean we could see.  It was amazing.

Much of our time was spent relaxing either by the pool or by the ocean - not a bad way to spend the day!

The "island squirrels" - these huge iguanas were everywhere!  And were pretty great thieves when it came to abandoned food...

View of the city from our terrace at night.

We rented a golf cart one day and took it touring around the island.  We found some really neat bars and restaurants with full service food and entertainment.  Many had setups that would allow you to come and drink/eat while swimming in the ocean and using their pool.  Pretty neat.  We did not come prepared to swim - but now we know!!

We took the golf cart down to Punta Sur (South Point) and paid the $3.00 for permission to walk all the way down through the parkland.  I think we skipped this the last time we visited because it was so busy, but I'm so glad we went this time!  Total highlight and beautiful views!

The sunsets from the terrace were not to be missed.  It became a daily routine to head upstairs to our room right before sunset.

Todd got up for sunrise on our last day.  Also visible from our terrace - seriously - it was amazing.

We ventured out for breakfast at this cute little diner on our last morning in Isla.

The view from the ferry as we were leaving.  Goodbye Isla - we'll be back!!!

Meanwhile...

The girls were having a ball at Camp GG/Pop Pop 2022!

We sent little surprises for them to open one day.
