The annual Short/Gates lake trip!!
We found a house on a different part of the lake this year and were very happy with the location. We were off in a large cove that was a no wake zone. Perfect for lots of swimming space!! The kids LOVED this floating dock they could swim out to and play.
The house came equipped with lots of fun kayaks, stand up paddle boards and (we later discovered) not nearly enough oars to compensate for the number that were sunk to the bottom of the lake... lol
We brought our big unicorn floaty and the kids all tied themselves to Todd in the green kayak. It totally reminded us of Toy Story seeing all these colorful things bobbing in a parade.
Feeding the geese was a great distraction when they were not in the mood to swim
Everyone was surprised and excited to see this cutie turtle! Apparently turtles really like pirate's booty popcorn...
One of the highlights of this trip and something totally new was the boat rental! We got a pontoon boat for the day to go exploring on the lake and were hoping to let the kids try tubing.
We let the kids off the boat to swim around for a bit and when we were pulling up to pick them up, we told them to "clump up!" so we would know where they were and clump up they did! lol. It was hilarious.
Tubing was a huge hit. The pontoon boat was not a super powerful or fast boat so it was perfect for rookie tubers.
As always, the lake trip was a major fun time and we are already searching for next year's lakehouse!
