Half of a Year

Erin and Halle are SIX months old today!

These babies are just getting more and more fun as they explore more of the world around them.  They have become a lot more mobile just in the past couple weeks - rolling and now trying desperately hard to scoot around to find new toys or things Lia has so graciously shared with them (which are usually items they would choke on... joy).  Erin finds Lia hilarious and will just stare at her playing and laugh to which Lia will respond "Erin is faffing at Lia!"  It is so awesome to see them interacting more as siblings instead of having to shield the babies from Lia's every move.

Here are some fun facts about these little six month old cuties!

• Erin gets really upset when Halle is in her personal space - either touching her, kicking her, or is just plain too close.  I think she has built up resentment from being in the womb with Halle jumping on her head.  :)
• Halle loves sleeping next to Erin and will snuggle in with her and fall right to sleep.
• Both rolling over both ways.
• Both have gray/blue eyes.
• Halle seems taller and thinner than Erin who has thicker legs and seems rounder - I guess we will find out if there really is a weight/height difference at their MD appt next week.
• They love looking at each other, smiling, talking, and laughing. 
• Eating 4 times a day during waking hours and will have 6-8oz per feeding.
• Both sleep well for naps - but tend to be a little opposite.  Halle will take a shorter morning nap and longer afternoon nap whereas Erin takes a long nap in the morning and wakes earlier for the afternoon nap.  Halle also needs a catnap in the evening when Erin can make it all the way to bedtime.
• Sleeping through the night (for the most part).  They seem to have a routine of going to bed easily together in one crib, waking around 2-3am for a binky which is when we transfer them to their swings and they sleep there well until 6-7am when they are screaming hungry.  
• Just started feeding baby food and Erin LOVES it and has totally figured out that this food stuff is amazing.  Swallowing almost every bite.  Then, Halle, couldn't care less.  She tries it and unless it is really yummy (so far out of peas, squash, and green beans she has only been excited by squash) she is tightlipped and doesn't open her mouth.  Little stinker.  
• No teeth yet, but Erin is drooling constantly - it is disgusting.  
• I'm ready for the spit up phase to be over with - Halle is the worst - leaves little teaspoon size drops like a trail everywhere she goes.  
• So far, Halle is still the quickest to smile when she sees someone she knows or when people talk to her - Erin, you have to earn it a little more, but once she starts, she doesn't stop.

And a couple bonus funny face pictures.  :)  This photo shoot was actually pretty challenging at first b/c I was using the nice camera to try and get a quality picture, but I was met with only very serious faces.  They looked concerned, confused and a little frightened by this large black thing looming in front of Mama's face.  It wasn't until I got my cell phone out (which apparently they are very accustomed to) to take some more that I started getting awesome big face smiles.  Good thing my phone has a nice camera...  :)
