Miss Independent

This week marks my first attempt to care for all three girlies all by myself during the day.  I was ready for the challenge, but knew it wouldn't be easy.  I've been spoiled by all the help provided by generous friends and family, but needed to try and figure this out on my own.  Everyone has been asking how things have been, so I thought I'd keep a little log of my day with three kids under two (yikes!).  

8:00 wake from brief nap after feeding the babies for their 6am feed
8:10  brew coffee and wash bottles from the night before - hopefully all kids still sleeping
8:15  hear Lia on the monitor, but she seems happy - cross my fingers she stays that way
8:30  get a large cup of coffee and wolf down some food while Lia plays in her crib
8:35  one of the babies starts to stir - eat faster...
8:45  baby still happy - make two bottles and go to get Lia up from bed
8:45  get Lia up, changed, dressed, brush teeth, clean up room
9:00  set Lia up with breakfast in her chair, feed a baby
9:15  clean up breakfast, let Lia down to play, feed baby 2
9:30  baby bathtime while Lia empties the drawers in our bedroom
10:00  baby nap and Lia outside play time

We don't have a sandbox (b/c apparently scorpions like to live in them... ) so Lia gets flour instead!

11:00  set Lia up with some crayons and stickers in the high chair.  Attempt to get some work done
11:03  Lia decides she is done with crayons and pitches a royal fit
11:04  Let her down from her chair and hope she can play for a bit while I work
11:20  prep Lia's plate for lunch, get interrupted  by fussy Lia and wrestle a diaper change
11:35  Lia lunch time, prep food for me and eat with her

 12:15  Lia goes down for a nap
12:30  wake the little girls up from nap and make two bottles, feed two babies at the same time

 12:50  finish feeding and decide to take some cute pictures of the babies snuggling

1:00  realize Erin has pooped through her diaper and she is soaked...
1:01  change Erin and decide to upgrade from premie diapers to the newborn size
1:05  change poopy diaper #2 from Halle, thankfully not a blowout...
1:09 snuggle the babies up close by and sit down to work a bit more
2:30 you mean I get to shower??
2:55  Lia still sleeping - HOORAY!  Make bottles - wake and feed Halle
3:15  Lia still sleeping - HOORAY!  wake and feed Erin 
3:30 Lia up and happy in her crib. Get Lia up from nap.  Realize she has leaked out of her diaper...  change Lia, the sheets and start laundry...

3:30 - 10:00pm - get distracted and forget to keep track of my day...  that says it all.  haha

10:00pm - 6:00am - feed babies every 3 hours, but luckily Todd is able to take one of the feeds, so we each manage at least 4-5 hrs of continuous sleep per night.  Well, as continuous as it can be with little babies in the room making all sorts of odd noises...  replacing lost binkys... and soothing the fussy times.  Ahh newborns... 

Whew...  I'm tired.

But, this cutie patootie keeps me smiling.
